The volcanic ash<\/strong> (also known as rofe o picon) which cover the enarenados (farmland covered in picon) retains the scarce rainwater that falls , absorbing it like a sponge and preventing any runoff from reaching the sea.It allows the water to rain, reaching the roots in the soil beneath an forms a layer from the sun, preventing evaporation.As it doesn’t have any organic properties, it is set aside and pits are dug in order to plant the grapevines in soil rich in nutrients.Nevertheless, the strong trade winds that blow in spring and summer burn the leaves that grow above the pits, for this reason small, semi-circular stone walls<\/strong> (zocos) are built to protect them.<\/p>\n

Bodega La Geria is open every day where everyone is welcome.Located in the heart of winegrowing area of Lanzarote, known as La Geria as well, with a stunning views to the volcanoes.<\/p>\n

The winery currently has a 450,000-liter capacity, mainly in stainless steel tanks and a smaller proportion in oak barrels, around 300,000 bottles are produced annually.<\/p>\n

The main grapes used for are, Volcanic Malvasia for dry, semi-sweet, sweet wines and Listan negro grapes are used for reds and ros\u00e9s.Moscatel de Alejandr\u00eda grapes for sweet moscatels, the dessert wines.<\/p>\n

It was built at the en of the XIX century, several villages very near were burried under the lava during the eruptions.<\/p>\n

Una de las cosas m\u00e1s atrayentes del proyecto era la posibilidad de elaborar un monovarietal de malvas\u00eda , aquellos vinos que se elaboran en exclusiva con una variedad \u00fanica de uva.<\/p>\n

Para ello se contaba con un vi\u00f1edo propiedad de la familia, que en su mayor\u00eda est\u00e1 compuesto por cepas de esta noble e interesante variedad, que adem\u00e1s se pod\u00edan controlar, mimar, decidir el momento exacto de la vendimia y aplicar los tratamientos oportunos.<\/p>\n

Sus vinos siguen desde sus comienzos un plan de elaboraci\u00f3n trazado minuciosamente que se sirve tanto de la malvas\u00eda en estado puro como de la m\u00e1s avanzada tecnolog\u00eda. Con un dise\u00f1o arquitect\u00f3nico muy cuidado y respetuoso con el entorno tan espectacular que le rodea, la bodega Stratvs (Stratus) ofrece visitas por sus instalaciones para dar a conocer la t\u00e9cnica de producci\u00f3n y elaboraci\u00f3n de los vinos Stratvs, entre los que destaca el blanco, con su uva Malvas\u00eda, la uva tan caracter\u00edstica de los vinos de Lanzarote<\/p>\n

En la agradable, y amplia terraza del Restaurante Stratvs (Stratus), rodeada de much\u00edsima vegetaci\u00f3n y bajo una marquesina vidriada de colores, podr\u00e1s disfrutar de una carta elaborada con productos de la Finca de Uga, Kil\u00f3metro cero, finca prodiedad del grupo Rosa y sost\u00e9n gastron\u00f3mico del resto de establecimientos hoteleros de la misma propiedad como Hotel Fariones y Princesa Yaiza Suite Hotel Resort en la isla de Lanzarote.
